The school wished their new visual identity to establish a link with the school's namesake, Harry M. Wegeforth, founder of the San Diego Zoo. The new identity explores the Zoo theme and combines it with the existing mid-century typography and the existing school mascot. The 'Wildcat' which was originally just a head, was given a body and a jungle to call home, full of animal friends which populate the room signs and are the motif for the new building names.
